it's only when you see Ewan and Alec's Obi-Wans side by side that you realise just what a brilliant job Ewan did of bringing some of old obi into his performance

Beautiful! The ones of old and young Obi-Wan together....*SIGH* There's something so wistful and sad about about his expression.

I almost didn't have text, but photobucket kept resizing things wrong so I broke the picture in two and filled in the gaps with quotations. Guess I should thank photobucket since it turned out better this way.

I love the juxtaposition of older and younger Obi-Wan, great idea. Also, I am glad now that I didn't make a picspam about Obi-Wan and Luke (which was the first picspam idea that I could think of), because yours is so much better than what I had in mind!

Luke's birth and Obi-Wan being the first to hold him is one of my favourite scenes in the movie, especially since he goes on to watch over Luke his whole life. It just does something to me.

Oh, that scene. It makes me very sad because I always feel pity for Anakin who, naturally, should have been at this place.
But I also see Obi-Wan as Luke's guardian angel, so I understand that this moment makes a lot of sense.
