The explanation for Sam > Lilith is as follows
Sam= Azazel (or possibly Azazel+?) Azazel=Fallen Angel Lilith=first human female created (wouldn't submit to Adam, kicked out, became mother to demons, etc.) Thus, Azazel is either = Lilith or Azazel >Lilith
The reason I always thought Azazel > Lilith was because Lilith never dethroned Azazel while he was around.
I also never thought they were necessarily part of the same hierarchy, but possibly of similar level, just different. Not the same species , so to speak.
Personally, I'm a big fan of YES, but Sam with white eyes, or glowy green eyes, or even bright like the sun eyes would make me just as happy. As long as he gets to slam someone into a wall...
