I will always hate "X-Men: The Last Stand"

I loved "X-Men", I loved "X2: X-Men United", I loved "X-Men: First Class", I even liked "X-Men Origins: Wolverine".
What I did not like. What I absolutely loathed was "X-Men: The Last Stand".
And I have finally found an article that hits basically every issue I have with it in a non-rage-filled way.
6 Famously Terrible Movies That Were Almost Awesome
And because I love this photo, THIS is the movie we missed out on:

The Dark Phoenix.
The ACTUAL Dark Phoenix and Phoenix Force entity, not some half-assed cobbled together bullshit about Dissociative Identity Disorder AKA Jean's split personality. The Dark Phoenix saga is one of the most popular X-Men storylines. The 1992 X-Men CARTOON did it better than X3.
Just...the lack of respect, of understanding, of good concepts, of good writing. Everything Bryan Singer and his team did with the first two movies was basically shit on in the third.
My reaction following the viewing of X3:

Thankfully I did NOT see this in theatres. I feel sorry for everyone who did and wasted their money.
X3 is the reason people were wary about XM:FC. Because fans got burned by X3 and Origins was lukewarm. No one expected XM:FC to come close to the greatness of X2, but not only did it come extremely close, but it delivered in a way that hasn't been seen since 2003. If the reboot/prequels keep the same momentum set by the first movie, this new trilogy has the potential to be what the first was not.
I am finally excited about X-Men movies again.
